The ’19-minute viral video’ was among the most searched items in India last week.

MMS video: The mystery around the “19-minute viral video”, allegedly showing Bengali influencer Sofik SK and his girlfriend Sonali, in their private, intimate moments, continues to deepen as speculations have emerged that the viral MMS clip could be an AI-generated hoax.

What did the police say?

Media reports, citing police sources, claimed that the viral clip is allegedly AI-generated, while also cautioning against violating the privacy of individuals, and sharing fake/AI-generated content on social media platforms.

“The 19-minute viral video is AI generated,” an officer was quoted as saying, while cautioning netizens against sharing the explicit MMS clip as it could invite legal repercussions under relevant sections of the IT act.

“Sharing someone’s private, fake or AI-generated video makes could invite legal action under sections 67, 67A and 66 of the IT Act, which could result in imprisonment and heavy fines. Violating someone’s privacy and sharing explicit videos without consent is an offence,” the officer added.

Is the 19-minute viral video AI-generated?

Meanwhile, there is overwhelming evidence that the 19-minute viral video is not an AI-generated fake, and while the identity of the young couple seen in the viral 19-minute 34-second private video is unclear, several reports claim that the duo seen in the MMS clip are Bengali YouTuber Sofik SK and his girlfriend Sonali. However, India.com could not independently verify these claims.

Sofik SK and Dustu Sonali are content creators, and often make videos together for their Instagram and YouTube handles. Sofik SK runs, Palli Gram TV, a popular Bengali YouTube channel, while Sonali has over 312,000 followers on Instagram, where she lists herself as a an “artist”.

Following the controversy, the couple took their individual handles to issue separate apologies, and blamed their friend for leaking the private video, claiming that he had been blackmailing them.

Did the ’19-minute viral video’ girl die by suicide?

Notably, amid the controversy over the “19-minute viral video”, another video has emerged on social media platforms, claiming that the girl seen the explicit 19-minute MMS clip has purportedly died by suicide.

A video showing a young woman lying motionless, purportedly dead, on the ground, has gone viral amid the MMS video controversy. A voiceover in the background claims the girl seen shown in the video has “committed out of shame” after her 19-minute MMS clip was leaked.
