But how does it work? The potato bed hack sees people turning their blankets into potato-shaped beds. For this, you’ll require a fitted sheet, some pillows and blankets. Invert the fitted bedsheet so that the elastic edges are facing up. This will help form the signature potato shape. Next, place pillows or folded blankets on the inside of the folded edges to round out the edges and soften them. You can place a blanket on the bottom of the sheet to get a softer base, then place another one on yourself for extra snugness.

Since the setup is so easy, anybody can try it. But is it really beneficial for your sleep?

In a Healthandme report, Hannah Shore, Head of Sleep Science at Mattress Online, explained, “If you enjoy being wrapped up and surrounded by warmth, you may find it easier to drift off inside a potato bed. The snug pressure from the cushions mimics the feeling of being held, similar to the soothing effect of a weighted blanket.”

She further said, “That gentle pressure triggers the release of feel-good hormones, helping you feel calm, content, and ready for sleep.”
