Union Cupboard Allocates ₹11,718 Crore for 2027 Census Initiative

The Union Cupboard on Friday (December 12, 2025) authorised ₹11,718 crore for the Census 2027, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw introduced at a press convention.

Mr. Vaishnaw stated the 2027 Census can be the “first-ever digital census”.

“Census 2027 can be carried out in two phases, the primary between April and September 2026 and the second in February 2027,” the Union Minister added.

Mr. Vaishnaw stated “Caste enumeration can be included in Census 2027.”

Giving particulars of the train in response to a query by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Minister of State for House Affairs Nityanand Rai stated the 2 phases can be — Part I-Home Itemizing and Housing Census adopted by Part II–Inhabitants Enumeration (PE).

The primary section from April to September 2026, can be carried out in a interval of 30 days in accordance with the comfort of State/UT governments.

Mr. Rai stated the census questionnaire is finalised on the premise of inputs and solutions from completely different ministries, departments, organisations and census information customers earlier than every train.
