Director of Nationwide Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard slammed Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., Friday for referring to the capturing of two West Virginia Nationwide Guard troopers in Washington, D.C., as an “unlucky accident” throughout a listening to this week.
Thompson, the highest Democrat on the Home Homeland Safety Committee, made the remarks throughout a “Worldwide Threats to the Homeland” listening to Thursday on Capitol Hill whereas talking to Secretary of Homeland Safety Kristi Noem.
“It’s completely infuriating,” Gabbard stated on Fox & Associates. “He can not and refuses to instantly determine this assault for what it was, a terrorist assault on our personal soil in opposition to our Nationwide Guard, women and men on this case, who’re placing their lives on the road.”
On Thanksgiving Eve, two nationwide guard members have been shot blocks from the White Home, allegedly by an Afghan refugee. Spc. Sarah Beckstrom was killed and Employees Sgt. Andrew Wolfe was critically wounded.

Thompson stated throughout the listening to, “Madam Secretary, you and the gentleman from NCTC (Joe Kent) reference the unlucky accident that occurred with the Nationwide Guardsman being killed.”
Noem responded, “You assume that was an unlucky accident? It was a terrorist assault.”
Gabbard stated the guard members’ “direct mission was to maintain the American individuals protected,” and that the alternate between Thompson and Noem “factors to the egregious and longstanding drawback.”

The director stated leaders on either side of the political aisle “have refused to determine this Islamist terrorist menace for precisely what it’s, which is likely one of the the explanation why we discover ourselves within the place that we’re in immediately.”
Thompson was requested Friday on “CNN Information Central” by co-host Kate Bolduan if he stood by his assertion that the capturing was an “unlucky accident.”

Bolduan then interrupted Thompson, asking him, “You are saying you misspoke?”
“Oh, completely. Completely,” he responded.
