The Sun Belt football championship is going to be played in Harrisonburg, Va. between No. 25 James Madison and Troy, but not the fancy Troy known as the “Collar City” in New York.
The Troy playing in the conference championship game on Dec. 5, isn’t in the birthplace of Uncle Sam but rather in the place that hosts the Dixie Boys World Series.
Instead, Troy is located in Alabama and isn’t a historic Hudson River City famous for its Victorian architecture and trendy shops. Troy features more southern charm, old historic downtown and the Pioneer Museum of Alabama. Sure it might not be as interesting as the Troy in New York, but it’s where the Trojans fought for the right to play in the conference title game.
Troy will take on James Madison at 6 p.m. CT at Bridgeforth Stadium to crown a champion for the Sun Belt conference and await the fate of which bowl game the two will participate in when bowl games are announced on Sunday, Dec. 7.
