DHARWAD: A man committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree at Mangalgatti village in Dharwad taluk after spending more than Rs 3 lakh that he had collected for a finance company on an online game and was unable to repay the money. The deceased is Basavaraj Sakrappa (28) of Mangalgatti.
Basavaraj was working in the village, collecting money for a finance company. He got addicted to an online game and used the money he had collected for gambling. He lost more than Rs 3 lakh and when he was unable to return the finance money, he hanged himself from a tree.
Police have visited the place and are conducting an investigation. A complaint has been registered at the Garag police station in this regard.
