The Summer Creek Bulldogs (12-1) defeated the Katy Tigers (10-3) 38-37 in the Texas high school football Class 6A Division 2 playoffs on Friday.
The Tigers took a 14-0 lead, and their offense looked like they’d have few problems all day. Summer Creek’s defense forced stops while the offense caught up to the Tigers by halftime.
The teams traded points until the Tigers took a 37-31 lead in the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs blocked the PAT, and they had a chance to take a lead with a touchdown and PAT on the next drive.
Quarterback Noah Spinks drove the Bulldogs into Tiger territory. On 4th-and-8, he found Trenton Thomas in the middle of the field, and Thomas split two defenders and ran into the end zone. The Bulldogs converted the PAT for the win.
Summer Creek will play King in the quarterfinals on December 4 at 7 p.m.
