Operation Sindoor stands as a testament to India’s growing self-reliance in technology and defense, highlighted by Lieutenant General Rajiv Kumar Sahni at a recent science conclave in Panchkula. Sahni, heading the Indian Army’s electronics and mechanical engineers, detailed the mission’s strategic planning during a presentation.
Executed on May 7, the operation targeted terrorist strongholds in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad base in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s in Muridke. This was in response to an April 22 attack in Pahalgam that caused 26 casualties, showcasing India’s defensive readiness.
The conclave, part of the India International Science Festival 2025, focused on science communication’s role in society, emphasizing the need for transparency, ethics, and accessibility in scientific dialogue. Conversations revolved around fostering community engagement, particularly in rural and tribal areas, to bridge the gap between science and society.
