Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes picked up a key Week 14 win over the Pittsburgh Panthers. The ‘Canes ended the regular season with a 10-2 record while riding a four-game winning streak.
It’s the Hurricanes’ second straight year with at least 10 wins. Much of their success can be attributed to Beck, who is playing his first season with the program. He has completed 263 of 352 passes for 3,072 yards, 25 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 165.8 passer rating.

Miami earned the No. 12 spot in the latest College Football Playoff rankings. After failing to make the ACC Championship Game, the team is hoping for an at-large bid when the final rankings are revealed Sunday.

As the Hurricanes look to make their first College Football Playoff appearance, the redshirt senior is up for some big honors. On Friday, Miami announced that Beck and linebacker Mohamed Toure are semifinalists for the Comeback Player of the Year Award.

“Resilience on full display. Carson Beck and Mohamed Toure earn semifinalist honors for the 2025 Comeback Player of the Year Award,” the team wrote via an X post.
According to the award’s website, it’s given to three players who overcame injury, illness or other circumstances. The only other quarterbacks to make the list are the USF Bulls’ Byrum Brown and the Houston Cougars’ Conner Weigman.
Last season, while playing for the Georgia Bulldogs, Beck suffered a season-ending elbow injury on Dec. 7 in the SEC Championship Game. It caused him to miss the College Football Playoff, and Georgia was eliminated by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

He would then opt to forgo his final year of eligibility and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. Beck then changed his mind, entering the transfer portal and landing with Miami.
While missing a playoff spot is still a possibility for the Hurricanes, they’ve already secured bowl eligibility. While Beck plays out his final year of eligibility, he can take home some hardware and help Miami achieve at least an 11-win season for the first time since 2003.
