The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has transferred seven indigenous technologies developed under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme to the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
The technologies handed over include an Indigenous High-Voltage Power Supply for Airborne Self-Protection Jammers, a Tide-Efficient Gangway for Naval Jetties, Advanced VLF–HF Switching Matrix Systems, and VLF loop aerials for underwater platforms.
Other technologies transferred to the Armed forces are an Indigenous Waterjet Propulsion System for Fast Interceptor Craft, a process for recovering lithium precursors from used Li-ion batteries, and a long-life seawater battery for sustained underwater sensing and surveillance.
According to the ministry, each system was designed, developed, and extensively tested by Indian industry in close collaboration with DRDO experts and the three services, reinforcing the TDF scheme’s objective of import substitution and critical technology development.
The technologies were formally handed over during a meeting of the Empowered Committee of DRDO held at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi, on 2 December.
During the meeting, the Committee approved 12 new projects covering strategic, aerospace, naval, and electronic warfare technologies, signalling continued emphasis on strengthening domestic capability and reducing reliance on foreign systems in critical sectors.
The committee also discussed streamlining processes under the TDF scheme, emphasising faster end-to-end execution to meet evolving operational and technological requirements.
They reviewed the roadmap for acquisition and induction of successfully developed technologies and recommended policy measures to ensure seamless and timely deployment.
