YOU GUYS, YOU GUYS THROW THE BALL OUTSIDE, WE KICK THE BALL. BUT IT WASN’T UNTIL HIS SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL THAT MAX DISCOVERED HIS FUTURE. I THINK I PUNTED ONE TIME, WENT 58 YARDS, AND COACH TOLD ME TO COME AND, YOU KNOW, COME AND PUNT. AND, YOU KNOW, HERE I AM, ONE PUNT LATER AND MAX WAS ON HIS WAY TO AMERICA, RATED AS THE FIFTH BEST PUNTER IN HIS HIGH SCHOOL CLASS, FLETCHER COMMITTED TO ARKANSAS, BOLTING UP THE MIDDLE THIS MATCH. FLETCHER, WHERE HE WAS AN ALL SEC SELECTION AS A SOPHOMORE. HE’S AN NFL TALENT, FOR SURE. DESPITE SUCCESS WITH THE HOGS, MAX TRANSFERRED TO CINCINNATI ONE BECAUSE THE BEARCATS HAVE HAD AN AUSTRALIAN KICKER FOR TEN STRAIGHT YEARS. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, HE TEAMED UP WITH HIS BROTHER MASON, WHO’S ARGUABLY THE BEST PUNTER IN UC HISTORY. BEING CLOSE TO HIM, I THINK WAS REALLY IMPORTANT FOR ME. MASON GRADUATED LAST YEAR, MAX FILLING HIS SPOT THIS YEAR. HE’S ONE OF THE BEST OVERALL PUNTER PEOPLE I’VE EVER BEEN AROUND. MAX DONNING THE NUMBER 31 THIS SEASON JUST LIKE HIS BROTHER DID, AND HIS FATHER DID, AND HIS GRANDFATHER DID. I’M VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE SUCH A GOOD FAMILY AND A PROUD FAMILY THAT I GET TO WEAR THIS WITH THE NUMBER AND THE NAME COME EXPECTATIONS. BUT MAX IS WORKING ON LEAVING HIS OWN LEGACY. HE’S LEARNED THAT PRESSURE TO GO OUT AND JUST PLAYING FOOTBALL AND, YOU KNOW, PLAYING THE BALL FAR AND ENJOYING THE MOMENT JUST LIKE HE DID AS A KID WITH HIS FAMILY IN AUSTRALIA. For the first time under Scott Satterfield, the Cincinnati Bearcats are playing in a bowl game.UC will take on former conference foe Navy in the Liberty Bowl, to be played Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee.Cincinnati’s last Bowl Game came in Dec. 2022, when they played Louisville in the Fenway Bowl. UC has lost three-straight Bowl Games, with their last win coming in the 2020 Birmingham Bowl, in a 38-6 win over Boston College.The Bearcats’ 2025 season got off to a hot start, with UC winning seven of their first eight games, and getting ranked as high as No. 17 in the AP Top 25.However, UC’s season ended with four-straight losses, closing their year at 7-5 (5-4), the first winning campaign under Satterfield.Cincinnati has played in the Liberty Bowl once previously. On New Year’s Eve 2011, the Bearcats defeated Vanderbilt, 31-24.UC currently holds a three-game active winning streak over the Midshipmen, most recently having beaten Navy 20-10 in 2022. Navy went 9-2 overall this season, including 7-1 in AAC play. The Midshipmen have one more game on their schedule this year, when they take on their arch rival Army this coming week.
