Elon Musk appeared on Nikhil Kamath’s YouTube podcast People by WTF, sparking widespread attention after the two-hour conversation went viral on X with over 22.5 million views. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including AI, media, live events, work, consciousness, family, money, and entertainment.
AI to transform movies, games, and podcasts
Musk predicted that AI will soon dominate content creation, producing movies, podcasts, and videos in real time, often surpassing current production quality. He highlighted that AI-generated video games will become highly realistic and interactive. According to Musk, AI systems—developed by his company xAI and others—are increasingly capable of mimicking human behavior, even reflecting complex personalities and emotional nuances.
Live events gain scarcity and value
As AI-generated content becomes ubiquitous, Musk believes live events will gain special significance. Digital content can be reproduced endlessly, but in-person experiences like concerts, stand-up shows, and sports events remain unique. Musk explained that the scarcity of real-life events will enhance their value, potentially making live entertainment a profitable investment. “Since all is AI and digital, live events can get scarce…their value will rise,” he said.
Personal revelations
The podcast also offered glimpses into Musk’s personal life. He shared that his partner, Shivon Zilis, is “half-Indian” and serves as director of operations and special projects at Neuralink. Musk revealed that one of his children with Zilis carries the Indian middle name “Sekhar,” in honour of Nobel Prize-winning astrophysicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.
Musk’s appearance highlighted both his vision for the AI-driven future and personal connections that reflect his diverse interests and inspirations. The discussion has been widely shared and analyzed, reflecting ongoing public fascination with his predictions and private life.
