Starlink Launches in India: Pricing for Elon Musk’s Satellite Internet Service


Elon Musk led Starlink has just announced the monthly launch price of its satellite internet service. The satellite internet company just updated it’s website and now lists the prices of its subscription for residential customers. The company is planning to expand it’s footprint across India theroefore is either posting job openings regularly or disclosing the prices of its plans.

How much will the monthly subscription cost?

SpaceX will charge Rs. 8,600 per month for its Starlink satellite internet service, which will include the cost of hardware worth Rs. 34,000. In terms of features, the Elon Musk-led tech firm will offer unlimited data, along with a 30-day trial.

Is Starlink hiring?

Starlink in an effort to support it’s growing presence in the country has recently posted job offerings for it’s Bengaluru Office. The tech firm was hiring a Payments Manager, an Accounting Manager, a Senior Treasury Analyst, and a Tax Manager in the country. Additionally, the job postings mentioned that the hiring drive is part of Starlink’s efforts to expand its “international footprint”, as it plans to offer its services across the globe.

What are earth stations planned by Starlink?

According to some leaks and reports Starlink is planning to set up its gateway earth stations in multiple locations across India, including Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Noida. These stations will be built to act as relay points for establishing and maintaining connections between the SpaceX satellites and the receivers on Earth.

When did Starlink recieve licences?

Earlier this year, in July, the company reportedly received the key licence, for five years, from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to use its satellites for launching commercial operations in India. With these proactive efforts the company is trying to capture a major market share in the satellite based internet sector. Since this is used in residential areas and in businesses alike.
