Tide Secures Support from Over One Million Small Businesses in India


The United Kingdom-based business management platform Tide claimed that it has surpassed one million micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in India. Emerged as its fastest-growing market globally in member acquisition, the platform has doubled adoption since its start in December 2022.

Tide further stated that its growth in India is being driven by a new generation of business owners, with over 85 per cent (865,000) of its members under the age of 40, including 58 per cent Gen Z and 42 per cent millennial. BW Businessworld could not independently confirm the claims made by Tide.

Notably, 63 per cent of its members are from states such as Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra, and a majority comprising small and micro entrepreneurs like local retailers, freelancers and service-led solopreneurs. 

The company claimed that it is on track to bring 500,000 women entrepreneurs onto the platform by 2027. 

Nearly 24,000 women-led MSMEs have shut down across India over the past five years (July 2020 to November 2025), Minister of State for MSMEs Shobha Karandlaje told Parliament.

The company also stated that it is working to enable SME expansion across borders through industry delegation. Contributing to critical dialogue shaping future trade for small businesses under the provisions of the UK-India trade deal. 

India and the UK signed a landmark Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in July 2025, aiming to boost trade to USD 120 billion by 2030 by eliminating tariffs on 99 per cent of Indian exports and easing professional mobility for services like IT, while opening UK procurement to Indian firms.

Additionally, Tide recently secured a USD 120 million strategic investment, in a funding round led by TPG and also investing £500 million over the next five years, starting in 2026.

“In just under three years, one million Indian entrepreneurs have chosen Tide to be their partner in growth. India is where some of Tide’s most innovative products are being developed, creating strong use-cases to be implemented globally,” said Gurjodhpal Singh, CEO, Tide in India.
