Military has been deployed to take care of legislation and order in violence-hit West Karbi Anglong district of Assam, Director Common of Police Harmeet Singh mentioned on Wednesday (December 24, 2025).
Talking to reporters on the worst-hit Kheroni space, Mr. Singh appealed to the folks to not bask in violence and requested group elders to make “misguided” youths perceive that issues will be solved solely by dialogue.

“Military columns have reached right here, and so they have marched by these areas. The scenario is completely underneath management now,” he mentioned.
The police are investigating the violence that occurred during the last two days, he mentioned.
“We are going to arrest the culprits. Let the scenario stabilise first,” he added.
Two individuals had been killed, and 45 others, together with 38 police personnel, injured as violence rocked West Karbi Anglong district.

Agitators from the Karbi group had been on a starvation strike for the final 15 days, demanding the eviction of alleged unlawful settlers, who largely hail from Bihar, from Village Grazing Reserve (VGR) and Skilled Grazing Reserve (PGR) lands in tribal belts.
They went on a rampage on Monday (December 23, 2025) after police took away three agitators from the protest web site within the early hours, a transfer which the administration later claimed was for his or her hospitalisation.
