India’s Innovation Surge: The Rise of Start-ups

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh spotlighted the pivotal role of start-ups in India’s growth trajectory during a discussion at the India International Science Festival in Panchkula. He asserted that mentorship, along with funding, will be crucial in cultivating the future wave of start-ups.

Dr. Singh underscored the necessity for guidance and initial support for budding innovators in the research sector. He spoke of a marked shift in India’s approach from policy-making to fostering an ecosystem that connects innovative ideas to potential markets. The establishment of platforms like BIRAC and national missions has been instrumental in linking start-ups with investors and partners.

The minister pointed out India’s evolution into an innovation-led economy, noting the nation’s newfound leadership in areas like biotechnology and space technologies. He announced the launch of a national R&D fund, designed to back high-risk, high-impact innovation in previously inaccessible sectors.
