We’ll be treated to a Sunday afternoon shootout at Madison Square Garden tomorrow at high noon. The Knicks (15-7) will be dueling with the Orlando Magic, who sit at 14-9 and have won seven of their last nine appearances. Any midday game is always a treat to watch, not to mention more unpredictable than usual, and it’ll be two teams duking out at the top of the East.
New York last took to the Garden floor Friday evening against the Utah Jazz. You might not see an opening run quite like this for a loooong time.

You certainly haven’t since 1997.
That’s right, since play by tracking began, no team has dominated so intensely to begin a game. New York has been killing it on their home floor, but this is just ridiculous.
33 for Brunson. 18 for KAT. New York shot 21-42 from deep. OG Anunoby took to the floor for the first time in a couple of weeks after a hamstring issue.
Business as usual these days.
And how about Deuce McBride? #2 gave us 22 off the bench in 22 minutes, knocking down seven out of his ten three-point attempts. The breakout might be for real. And he’s doing it on both sides of the floor, as always. Shoutout Bobby Huggins. Throw that hat on!
The bad news is that the Orlando Magic has served up two of the seven Knicks’ losses this young season, and they’re looking to make it three tomorrow. They beat us by 17 in NYC. They beat us by 12 in Orlando (without Paolo Banchero). This team is legit, and they’re starting to find their footing. They’re coming off a one-point nailbiter of a win on Friday at Miami.

All of that to say: tomorrow will be no walk in the park.
In a weird scheduling quirk, it’ll be our last taste of them in the regular season. Get those scouting reports ready. Who knows – we might just see more of them come playoff time.
Prediction:
It’s never easy beating the same team three times, and New York has been rolling lately. Despite how good the Orlando Magic are, a season sweep just wouldn’t feel right.
Knicks pull away at the end and win by a couple baskets in a game that’s close the entire way.
