Furthermore, Anglian Water said it was concerned that the application “does not reference any measures proposed for the containment of contaminated run-off from the hard standing helipads in the event of fire, spills, or other incidents”.
Planning officers are now considering the application, with a decision expected by Feb 5 2026.
A spokesman for Sheik Mohammed’s Newmarket stables, said: “Godolphin is fully aware of the helpful response from Anglian Water to the planning application. Any future construction will completely comply with all planning and environmental regulations.”
Sheikh Mohammed has ruled Dubai since 2006 and is both vice-president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates.
In March 2020, a British court ruled that on the balance of probabilities, he had abducted two of his daughters, Shamsa and Latifa, and had threatened his former wife, the Jordanian princess Haya bint Hussein.
The sheikh is famous for his love of racing. His horses have won several of the British classic races. They have also won the Irish Derby Stakes and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
At the age of 63, Sheikh Mohammed won the 2012 World Endurance Championship, riding over a 100-mile course – although the event has faced criticism over the welfare of the horses taking part.
