Nalco Set to Expand with New Bauxite Mine Developments


State-owned National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) is on track to commence operations at its Pottangi bauxite mines in Odisha by June of the coming year. This development is integral to Nalco’s strategy to expand its integrated aluminium business.

Dilip Buildcon Ltd has been identified as the L-1 bidder for both the development and operation of the Pottangi bauxite mines. According to Nalco’s Chairman and Managing Director, Brijendra Pratap Singh, the targeted start date remains firm at June next year.

Nalco has also received a 50-year mining lease from the Odisha government for the Pottangi Bauxite Deposit, covering an area of approximately 698 hectares. Alongside these developments, Nalco is prioritizing the enhancement of its alumina production capacity at its Damanjodi refinery, with plans to add a fifth stream to increase production by 1 MTPA.
