New Temple Set to Grace Portland, Maine


At a Christmas devotional held for Latter-day Saints and associates of the Portland Maine Stake on Sunday, December 14, 2025, Elder Allen D. Haynie, United States Northeast Space President, learn an announcement from the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of a temple to be inbuilt Portland, Maine.

“We’re happy to announce the development of a temple in Portland, Maine. The precise location and timing of the development will probably be introduced later. It is a motive for all of us to rejoice and thank God for such a big blessing — one that can permit extra frequent entry to the ordinances, covenants, and energy that may solely be present in the home of the Lord.”

The First Presidency
