The UCLA men’s basketball team returns to the court on Saturday afternoon when the Bruins host the Oregon Ducks at Pauley Pavilion (3 PM PT; Peacock).
UCLA is coming off a close road win at Washington, while the Ducks are limping into the contest after losing at home to USC by 5 points and with a record of 4-4, which is very un-Oregon like for a Dana Altman-coached team. In fact, the Ducks are coming into Saturday’s game in the midst of a four-game losing streak, essentially losing to the four best teams the Ducks have yet faced. Oregon has talent, though, and Altman is a proven coach, so this one will be difficult for a Bruin team that is still clearly trying to find its footing.

Although the Bruins fell behind at Washington 18-7 to start the game, they not only rallied, but they looked like the team that fans saw in the preseason wins at San Diego State and against UC Irvine. UCLA head coach Mick Cronin placed a zone defense on the floor when the Bruins were trailing by 11 points, and that totally threw the Huskies off their game. By the time there was less than 5 minutes to go in the game, the Bruins were up by 16 after a Xavier Booker three-pointer. Then UCLA almost threw the game away, allowing Zoom Diallo to get a good look at a potential game-winning three-pointer as time expired.
