Rapper 6ix9ine has been ordered back to prison for violating his supervised release, with a judge sentencing him to three months behind bars, according to ABC News.
Prosecutors were seeking three to nine months of prison time for the controversial rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, after he pleaded guilty to violating his supervised release. His sentencing marks the latest in his ongoing legal troubles stemming from his racketeering case in 2018, where he testified against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods in exchange for leniency. After pleading guilty, he was granted early release in 2020.
According to Billboard, 6ix9ine repeatedly violated his five-year supervised release. In November 2024, he pleaded guilty to using drugs and traveling to Las Vegas without permission, and was sentenced to 45 days in jail as well as another year of supervised release. This past February, he was caught with possession of cocaine and MDMA, and subsequently assaulted a man at a Florida mall in August.
6ix9ine’s attorneys were seeking six months of house arrest, claiming he was caught with a “very small amount” of drugs and that the assault did not result in serious injuries. Lance Lazzaro, the rapper’s lawyer, said that custodial punishment would “end up being much more severe, difficult, and even dangerous, when compared to a typical inmate.”
“Due to Mr. Hernandez’ classification, he always serves his jail time segregated and fully isolated from other inmates,” he wrote. “As a result, Mr. Hernandez is given extremely limited social interaction with other inmates and very little time outside to get fresh air and exercise.”
6ix9ine is expected to report to prison on January 6, 2026.
